Driving Licence

UK Driving Licence acceptable.
Minimum Driving age 18.
16 years for low cc motorcycles.

Travellers to Greece intending to hire a moped should be aware that they would require a valid driving licence with at least category A1 - 'light motorcycle` for this purpose. Category P, which is valid in the UK for driving mopeds up to 50cc, is not valid in Greece.


Insurance

Third-Party compulsory.
Green Card recommended.


Fines

Fines are payable to the Public Treasury not the police.

Blood / Alcohol limit is 0.025%.

Parking meters operate in Athens.
Parking is limited in Athens but visiting tourists are exempt from some regulations.
A red light to the rear of the vehicle must be displayed if parked on a public road at night.

  • It is prohibited to import spare fuel in cans.
  • The carrying of spare fuel cans is illegal.
